TERRORIZER (U.K.)

THE VAULT FANZINE (Serbia)
"Here’s another good example how Greeks are helping some cult bands return to fold, sometimes stronger than ever before, which is exactly the case with Overlorde. Some of you may remember this band from diverse metal zines that have covered it since its resurgence in 2000 and especially after releasing a promo disc that same year. Since then their comeback album, after the one and only self-released EP from 1987 that is now incredibly scarce and expensive, was highly anticipated and finally we have in our hands “Return Of The Snow Giant”. Now, enhanced with Bobby Lucas’ (Ex-Seven Witches) great voice, Overlorde are seemingly back to show the new generations of metalheads how it’s done the old way. Indeed, it does sound like it was transferred to present straight from the mid 80’s, with contemporary power metal sound and up to date production, of course. There’s not much about this album not to like if you’re into classic metal; sounds and Sonic Age for sure made the right choice by signing Mark Edwards and co. to their roster. M. E. has proved that he’s an excellent songwriter and he reassures us here with each one of 13 cuts on “Return…”. What I specifically love about all of them is their thematic that is totally fantasy oriented. Pay special attention to ‘Snow Giant’ (a song rightfully picked to represent the entire album in its title), ‘Mark of The Wolf’ and ‘Colossus’. Overlorde are equally convincing in the full out attack, more serene mid-paced stuff, as well as in some more hard rocking NWOBHM moments of ‘My Disease’. Also, the cover artwork is great and it would be a damn shame if Sonic Age doesn’t put out “Return Of The Snow Giant” on vinyl as well. The gatefold packaging for this one would be especially nice."
